MODEL JL-R RECESSED MAT
FRAME
IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY THAT THE FRAMING MEMBERS
BE INSTALLED ACCURATELY, IN A LEVEL PLANE. WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROBLEMS
CAUSED BY INCORRECT FRAME INSTALLATION.
1. A recess must be provided at the location of the mat, 3" (7.6
cm) deep, and 6" (15.2cm) wider and longer than the frame. This allows room to
maneuver the frame, and clearance for the anchor bolts.
2. Using the hex nuts provided, install the 1/4" x 3" (0.6 cmx 7.6 cm) anchor
bolts in frame channels. Space for two foot intervals on all sides of the mat
frame.
3. Assemble the frame sections. Insert 1/4-20 x 1(2.5cm) self-threading
screws through the prepunched holes in the ends of the plain sections of the
frame, into screw bosses on ledge sections. Tighten all screws when
finished.
4. Place assembled frame into the opening. Shim as necessary to level frame
to final height of finished floor surface
5. Pour cement mortar around edges of frame, and in the center in sufficient
quantity to be level with the inside lip of frame.
6. With a board slightly shorter than inside lip of frame, smooth and level
mortar. Care must be taken to assure the frame will lie flat and level, and at
the correct height.
7. Before mortar is set-up, be sure the sides of the frame are
straight, and corners at the correct angles. Check inside dimensions of frame
against drawing measurements at several places to be sure size is correct.
REMEMBER — the mat is made to fit snuggly into the frame according to the
drawing dimensions. Use spreaders if necessary to hold frame at correct
dimensions.
8. When cement has hardened, plywood or some other material should be
installed in the recess to protect the edges from damage. Prior to installation
of mat, remove this material and carefully clean recess to insure mat sits flat
in it.
