Detention Specialties - Guide Specifications

Section 11190

Part 1: General

1.01 DescrIption

A. Bidding Requirements, Conditions of the Contract and pertinent portions of Sections in Division One of these Specifications apply to the Work of this Section as fully as though repeated herein.

B. Work Under this Section includes all lire extinguishers, cabinets, and brackets as specified and shown on drawings.

C. Related Work Specified elsewhere:

1.02 Submittals

A. Brochure: submit brochure of materials and installation details in accordance with Section 01300

1.03 Product Delivery, Storage and Handling

A. Package, handle, deliver and store at the job site in a manner that will avoid damage. Damaged equipment will be rejected.

1.04 Quality Assurance

A. Provide portable fire extinguishers, cabinets and accessories by a single company.

B. Provide new portable fire extinguishers which are UL. listed and bear UL. "Listing Mark" for type, rating, and classification of extinguisher indicated.

Part 2: Products

2.01 Manufacturer

2.02 Units

Part 3: Execution

3.01 Installation

A. Install items included in the section in locations and at mounting heights indicated, or if not indicated, at heights to comply with applicable regulations of governing authorities.

1. Prepare recesses in walls for fire extinguisher cabinets as required by type and size of cabinet and style of trim and to comply with manufacturer’s instructions.

2. Securely fasten mounting brackets and fire extinguisher cabinets to structure, square and plumb, to comply with manufacturer’s instructions.

B. Check extinguishers for proper charge, and operation.

C.     Remove and replace damaged, defective or under charged units
