PART 1: GENERAL
1.01 RELATED
DOCUMENTS
A. Conditions of the Contract and portions of Division One of this Project
Manual apply to this Section as though repeated herein.
1.02 SUMMARY
Select one or more of the following subparagraphs as required by the
Project.
A. Section Includes:
1. [Aluminum] [Galvanized Steel] Equipment
Hatch.
2. [Aluminum] [Galvanized Steel] Domed Equipment
Hatch.
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each type of
equipment hatch indicated. Include manufacturer's model number and accessories
and requirements for roughing-in dimensions.
1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Packing, Shipping, Handling and Unloading: Deliver
equipment hatch as a factory assembled unit in manufacturer’s original
packaging.
B. Store materials in a dry, protected,
well-vented area. The contractor shall thoroughly inspect product upon receipt
and report damaged material immediately to delivering carrier and note such
damage on the carrier’s freight bill of lading.

2.02 MANUFACTURED
UNITS

Equipment Hatch.
Select one or more of the following for an equipment hatch size. If more
than one size is required for the project, identify each type on a schedule
located on the drawings and identify each type in the specification section. The
first option for each model size is made from aluminum, the second option for
each model size is made from galvanized steel. Custom sizes are
available.
1. Model: [EHA-1] [EHG-1]; 72
inches by 96 inches clear opening.
2. Model: [EHA-2] [EHG-2]; 72
inches by 120 inches clear opening.
3. Model: [EHA-3] [EHG-3]; 120
inches by 120 inches clear opening.
4. Model: [EHA-4] [EHG-4]; 144
inches by 144 inches clear opening.
5. Characteristics:
a.
Curb and Curb Frame: [0.090 inch aluminum] [14 gauge galvanized steel], fully
welded and ground smooth.
b.
Liner Metal: 22 gauge steel; ASTM A36/A36M.
c.
Curb Height: 12 inches.
d. Lid
Insulation: 1 inch fiberglass.
e.
Metal Finish: Factory primed.
f.
Hardware: Two-point universal spring latch, inside/outside handle with padlock
provision, adjustable torsion springs, automatic hold-open and operating arms
with red vinyl grip, and neoprene bulb seal.

more than one size is required for the project, identify each type on a schedule
located on the drawings and identify each type in the specification section. The

PART 3: EXECUTION
3.01
EXAMINATION
A. Examine areas and conditions
affecting installation. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory
conditions have been corrected.
3.02
INSTALLATION
A. Install system level and
plumb, and in accord with manufacturer’s written instructions, original design
and referenced standards.
3.03 ADJUSTING
A. Adjust system for proper
operation. Replace any parts that prevent the equipment hatch from operating
properly.
3.04 CLEANING
A. Remove all debris caused by
installation of the equipment hatch. Clean all exposed surfaces to as fabricated
condition and appearance.
3.05 PROTECTION
A. Provide protection of the
completed installation until completion of the project. Repair any damage at no
additional cost.
3.06 SCHEDULES
If more than one type of equipment hatch is required, provide a schedule
similar to the following example below. Use the corresponding type designations
here and on the drawings,
